Next Chapter Reentry Project exists to Refine, Restore, and Reacclimate the lives of men and women impacted by incarceration. We take a holistic, gospel centered approach to reentry by providing stable housing, wraparound support, and opportunities for meaningful transformation. Through compassionate community and structure, we help residents transition back into society with dignity, purpose, and hope.
Position Summary
The Reentry Support Staff provides on-site support and supervision to residents of a FreeStanding Board and Lodge licensed facility. This position ensures the safety and wellbeing of residents while assisting them in navigating daily living skills, community resources, and program expectations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance with Minnesota Housing Support (formerly Group Residential Housing) and Board and Lodge standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and presence at the facility during assigned shifts
- Assist residents with daily living skills, routines, and community integration
- Monitor and document resident compliance with house rules, curfews, and expectations
- Conduct regular house checks, including room inspections and wellness check-ins
- Record observations and interactions in daily logs and communication binders
- Report incidents and behavioral concerns promptly to the House Manager or Executive Director
- Support residents in accessing transportation, appointments, and resources as needed
- Assist with intakes, discharges, and orientation of new residents
- Light housekeeping duties to ensure shared spaces are clean and safe
- Follow emergency procedures and provide appropriate intervention during crises
- Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing training
Qualifications (Per MN Rule 4625 & Housing Support Requirements)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in human services or related field preferred
- At least one year of experience working with individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, disabilities, or justice-impacted populations
- Background check clearance as required by MN DHS and licensing standards
- Basic understanding of Housing Support program guidelines and Board and Lodge regulations
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and uphold confidentiality
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willing to obtain)
- Must be dependable, punctual, and compassionate
- Lived experience with reentry or incarceration is valued and encouraged
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in recovery, housing, or community-based support services
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and harm reduction
- Knowledge of local community resources and services
Shifts
- Flexible availability preferred (evening, overnight, weekend shifts are required)
- Staff must be present during times required by Minnesota Rule 4625 for supervision coverage.

Position Summary
The Reentry Support Staff / Children’s Program Manager plays a dual role in supporting both adult residents of a licensed Free-Standing Board and Lodge facility and the children of program participants. This role ensures the physical and emotional safety of residents, helps them meet daily goals, and facilitates our Little Legacies program one evening per week to nurture children impacted by incarceration. The ideal candidate has a strong commitment to trauma-informed care, family restoration, and community reintegration. For a qualified individual, this position may evolve into a Family and Children Director role.
Key Responsibilities
Reentry Support Duties:
- Provide supervision and a compassionate presence during assigned shifts
- Support residents with daily routines, appointments, transportation, and independent living skills
- Monitor and enforce house rules and expectations
- Conduct room checks and wellness check-ins
- Document resident interactions and observations
- Assist with intakes, discharges, and new resident orientation
- Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful living environment
- Respond to crises using trauma-informed approaches
- Uphold licensing standards and comply with Housing Support requirements
Children’s Program Duties (Little Legacies):
- Plan and facilitate weekly children’s programming one evening per week
- Build supportive, age-appropriate relationships with children and families
- Provide a safe and structured environment for learning, creativity, and emotional development
- Partner with residents and staff to promote positive parent-child interaction
- Maintain program materials and prepare activities in advance
- Work with leadership to assess needs, track outcomes, and adapt programming
Qualifications (Per MN Rule 4625 & Housing Support Requirements)
- Minimum age: 18 years
- High school diploma or GED required; relevant post-secondary education preferred
- At least one year of experience in social services, housing, or reentry programs
- Experience working with children or families in education, childcare, ministry, or community settings
- Must pass a DHS background check
- Understanding of Housing Support and Board & Lodge guidelines in Minnesota
- Skilled in de-escalation, boundary setting, and trauma-informed care
- Reliable communication, time management, and documentation skills
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain
- Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented
- Lived experience of reentry, recovery, or justice-involvement welcomed and valued
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating youth or family programming
- Familiarity with restorative justice, ACEs, and social-emotional learning
- Bilingual or culturally responsive experience a plus
- Interest in leadership development and family program coordination
Schedule
- Varied shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnights depending on facility needs
- Weekly commitment to children’s programming (one evening) required

Position Summary
The Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in the administrative and financial infrastructure of the organization. This person is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, including facility coordination, vendor relations, internal systems, and financial processes. The ideal candidate will also be skilled in nonprofit bookkeeping and proficient in QuickBooks, ensuring financial transparency and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee daily office functions, ensuring
- smooth and efficient administrative operations.
- Maintain vendor and utility accounts for all facilities, including our Board and Lodge homes.
- Manage organizational documentation, contracts, and licensing in compliance with Minnesota DHS Housing Support regulations.
- Coordinate maintenance and facility-related needs in collaboration with house managers and partners.
Financial & Bookkeeping Duties
- Maintain and reconcile financial records using QuickBooks
- Process accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and monthly financial reports
- Support annual audits and grant reporting with accurate documentation
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and tracking program expenses
- Maintain proper records for DHS Housing Support reimbursements
Program & Housing Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Minnesota Housing Support and Board and Lodge standards
- Assist in maintaining occupancy tracking, reporting, and eligibility documentation
- Collaborate with program staff to streamline workflows and improve service delivery
Qualifications
• Proven experience in nonprofit operations and financial management
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Experience working in a Board and Lodge or Housing Support environment preferred
• Familiarity with DHS Housing Support billing and documentation processes
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Accounting, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in nonprofit bookkeeping and operational management

Position Summary
The Board Treasurer is a vital governance role that ensures the organization maintains sound financial management and transparency. As a member of the Board of Directors, the Treasurer partners with the Executive Director and a contracted accounting firm to oversee budgeting, reporting, and financial oversight processe —without being responsible for day-to-day
bookkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight
● Review and interpret monthly financial reports, statements, and budgets to ensure
accurate and timely financial information.
● Monitor financial health and flag concerns to the Board and Executive Director.
● Ensure that appropriate internal controls, financial policies, and procedures are in place and upheld.
● Oversee grant and restricted fund tracking as needed.
● Provide guidance on budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
● Review annual financial statements and Form 990 prepared by the accounting firm.
Governance & Board Service
● Attend quarterly board meetings and contribute to board governance.
● Provide financial updates and explanations to fellow board members.
● Chair or co-chair the Finance Committee (if applicable)
● Maintain fiduciary responsibility on behalf of the organization.
Collaboration & Leadership
● Meet monthly with the Executive Director to review reports and strategy.
● Collaborate with the Executive Director and Volunteer Bookkeeper to support sound
financial practices.
● Act as a financial resource to the board and support financial literacy as needed.
Qualifications
● Experience in nonprofit or small business finance, accounting, or budgeting
● Familiarity with nonprofit financial practices and documents (e.g., 990, restricted funds)
● Ability to translate financial data into actionable insight for a non-financial audience
● Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and fiduciary responsibility
● Passion for social equity, reentry work, and restorative justice
Preferred but Not Required
● CPA, CMA, or relevant financial credentials
● Experience with housing support programs or justice-impacted populations
● Knowledge of QuickBooks Online and nonprofit accounting systems
Estimated Time Commitment
● 5–10 hours per month, including:
○ Monthly 1:1 meeting with the Executive Director
○ Quarterly board meetings
○ Review of financial documents and emails as needed

The Volunteer Bookkeeper will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with funder and regulatory guidelines, and supporting the organization’s financial sustainability. Working closely with the Executive Director and Treasurer, this position offers an opportunity to make a tangible impact while building or sharing your skills in nonprofit finance.
Key Responsibilities
